At Elite, our values guide how we work – for our people, our customers, and our planet.
When we introduced a 4-day working week at our headquarters in Enniskillen back in 2022, the results spoke for themselves: improved wellbeing, greater productivity, and a stronger work-life balance for our team. We were proud to be early adopters of this progressive way of working, and the success we saw in Enniskillen paved the way for what comes next.
Now, we are extending the same approach to our Livingston facility in Scotland.
This step is about more than the days we work – it is about living up to our ESG commitments and our value of “Do the Right Thing.” By moving to a 4-day week, we are:
- Reducing energy use and carbon footprint through fewer working and commuting days
- Creating a workplace and culture where people thrive both inside and outside of work
- Embedding sustainability at the heart of how we operate
Introducing a 4-day week is just one way we put our values into action. At Elite, a balanced workweek means a more fulfilled team and a stronger, more sustainable business.
Alex Harte, Operations Director at our Livingston facility, explains:
“Introducing the four-day week in Livingston is about creating balance. Fewer commuting days mean a lower carbon footprint, while more time for family and wellbeing helps our people thrive. It is a step that benefits our team, our business, and our planet.”
And the wider evidence backs this up. Trials of the 4-day week in the UK have shown:
- 92% of organisations chose to continue after their pilot, citing improved productivity and morale
- 71% of employees reported reduced burnout and lower stress levels
- Carbon emissions fell by around 15-20% thanks to fewer commutes and lower office energy use
These results echo our own experience at Elite.
By adopting the 4-day week early in Enniskillen and now expanding it to Livingston, Elite is proud to stay ahead of the curve – proving that a balanced workweek can mean a more fulfilled team, a stronger business, and a more sustainable future.
